| OBITUARY BIRMAYNE FINEN DANDY (SUNNY, MR D) 11 June 1992 – 2 November 2004 Mr D or Sunny came into our lives just over 2 years ago. We were after another Birman kitten and as we had 2 from Carole Flynn (Laurant Birmans) we decided to give her a call. Carole had stopped breeding; however she asked us if we wanted to adopt Sunny. He was an ex-stud cat of 10yrs and after being neutered was not mixing with the rest of her family of Birmans. We decided to have a go and as he was on a return basis if he did not settle, we had nothing to loose. Carole & Des drove up to us with Sunny the next weekend, we fell in love with him as soon as we saw him. It did not take long for sunny to settle in and very soon all our 7 cats took to him, well he was so laid back nothing would bother him anyway. Sunny soon became Sunny D which ended up as Mr D. Mr D would never run anywhere; he never had too, even when the others were chasing each other around the house. They would run up stairs and Mr D would just amble along, bide his time and on their return, Bang! He’d have em! It was really funny to watch. Mr D was the most loving cat we have ever known, he slept between us every night but he would not settle until he’d had a brush and a glass of cold filtered water, yep cold and filtered just how he liked it. Mr D hated to be left alone, he would shout at the top of his voice until someone paid him attention. We would scoop him up and he would hold on tight to our shoulders. I’m sure I still have the scars to prove it. He would just hang there like a koala bear. Sadly after 2 wonderful years with Mr D he suddenly became ill on the 29th October, we took him to the vet and they thought at first he had kidney problems, so he was allowed home for the weekend and given a course of antibiotics. He was very low and would not eat; he spent most of his time being cuddled & brushed on our bed. He also loved to watch our first litter of kittens playing with their mom- Lachmere Barbarella, whom he absolutely adored. On the Monday morning we decided to take him back to the vets where after a full x-ray they found a large tumour that was pushing on his heart & lungs. Susie and I had a call from our vet to go in that evening, where we said our last goodbyes. He never made it through the night; at 3am on the 2nd November 2004 he passed away peacefully in his sleep. We all love and miss you deeply Mr D and you have left a very large paw print on our hearts. We know you’re with our beloved Trina & Elsa now, take care and we will all be together again one day. We would like to thank Carole & Des for letting us share a brief moment in life with Mr D & All our Friends for their support to us in what was a very hard time. Sunny lives on in name in our blue tabby girl that we have kept called Sunrise & in Laurant Lorenzo his most famous son. |
